IDOV-Safe™ Receives Ethics Approval from Beijing Gobroad Hospital

2026.01.09

March 24, 2025 – Longyao Bio announced that its lead asset, IDOV‑Safe™, has received ethics committee approval from Beijing GoBroad Hospital (Peking University Cancer Hospital Sub‑Center). This approval establishes a “main center + sub‑center” clinical research framework for the product in Northern China, further strengthening the company’s nationwide multi‑center clinical layout.

As a sub‑center of Peking University Cancer Hospital, Beijing GoBroad Hospital shares top‑tier expert resources and clinical standards with the main center. On August 1, 2024, Professor Shen Lin, a leading authority in gastrointestinal oncology at Peking University Cancer Hospital, officially assumed the roles of Chief Scientist and Leader of the Gastrointestinal Oncology Program at Beijing GoBroad Hospital. She will collaborate across both institutions in discipline development, clinical practice, research innovation, and talent cultivation to build a high‑quality clinical and research platform. Its ethical review strictly follows the standards of the main center, ensuring consistency and reliability across clinical studies. This approval further validates the innovation and clinical safety of IDOV‑Safe™, demonstrating its adaptability and robustness in multi‑center clinical trials.

About Principal Investigator Professor Shen Lin

Professor Shen Lin is a Beijing Scholar, Chief Scientist of the National Key R&D Program, and a Distinguished Expert of Beijing. She currently serves as Director of the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology and Director of the Phase I Clinical Trial Unit at Peking University Cancer Hospital, as well as Director of the Beijing Key Laboratory of Cell and Gene Therapy for Solid Tumors. She also holds the positions of Chief Scientist and Leader of the Gastrointestinal Oncology Program at Beijing GoBroad Hospital. Previously, she served as Vice President of Peking University Cancer Hospital and Deputy Director of the Beijing Institute for Cancer Research.

A leading figure in gastrointestinal oncology in China, Professor Shen has devoted more than 30 years to precision treatment and translational research in gastrointestinal cancers, and is a founder and promoter of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) model for gastrointestinal tumors in China. In academic leadership roles, she serves as Honorary Chair of the Cancer Precision Therapy Committee of the Chinese Anti‑Cancer Association, Chair of the Gastric Cancer Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO), and Vice President of the Chinese Medical Women’s Association.

Professor Shen has long focused on clinical and translational research of anti‑cancer drugs. As a leading principal investigator, she has led more than 100 international and domestic multi‑center clinical trials, directly supporting the approval of 16 anti‑cancer drug indications in China and advancing 38 drugs into Phase I–II clinical development. Her research achievements have updated more than 40 clinical practice guidelines worldwide. As first or corresponding author, she has published over 250 SCI papers in high‑impact journals including Nature, BMJ, JAMA, The Lancet, and Nature Medicine, with 15 papers listed as ESI top 1% highly cited papers. She has been recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher and among the World’s Top 2% Scientists. She holds 18 national patents, with technology transfer revenue reaching RMB 12.6 million. The gastrointestinal cancer clinical and translational research system she established was included in the “Tech China” Pioneer Technology List by the China Association for Science and Technology. In June 2025, the world’s first randomized controlled trial of CLDN18.2 CAR‑T for gastric cancer, designed and led by her team, was published in The Lancet, marking a landmark breakthrough in solid tumor cell therapy.

Professor Shen’s profound expertise in gastrointestinal oncology is highly aligned with the core indications of IDOV‑Safe™. Her leadership in the clinical trial at Beijing GoBroad Hospital provides high‑level academic guidance and quality assurance for the development of IDOV‑Safe™ in MSS colorectal cancer and other gastrointestinal tumors. Leveraging the high‑level clinical and research platform established through cross‑institutional collaboration, the trial will accelerate the translation of this innovative therapy.

About IDOV‑Safe™

IDOV‑Safe™ is developed based on Longyao Bio’s globally leading IDOV™ (Intravenously Deliverable Oncolytic Virus) platform, a vaccinia virus‑based technology specifically engineered for systemic intravenous administration. Its core breakthrough lies in a proprietary high‑yield EEV (extracellular enveloped virus) strain, which enables the virus to evade immune clearance and broadly distribute to systemic tumor lesions.

IDOV‑Safe™ carries an exclusive “Magic Switch” gene module regulated by a small molecule: upon activation, viral replication is selectively inhibited in normal cells (inhibition rate >99.7%), while remaining unimpeded in tumor cells. This design achieves strong oncolytic efficacy while greatly expanding the therapeutic safety window, and delivers specific and potent killing activity against MSS colorectal cancer (10–100‑fold enhanced potency).

The collaboration with Beijing GoBroad Hospital is expected to significantly improve patient recruitment efficiency in Northern China and accelerate data generation and translational progress. Longyao Bio will continue to advance the clinical development of IDOV‑Safe™, committed to bringing curative potential to more patients with refractory solid tumors through this revolutionary technology platform.
