IDOV‑Immune™ Gets Ethics Approval in Australia

2026.01.09

May 30, 2025 – Longyao Bio and its co-development partner ViroMissile, Inc. (USA) announced that their strategic upgraded product, IDOV-Immune™, has received ethics committee approval from The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, officially initiating a Phase I clinical trial. This marks the first ethics approval for IDOV-Immune™ outside China, representing a critical milestone in the product’s international expansion.

The Alfred Hospital is one of Victoria’s leading public teaching hospitals, with close academic collaboration with Monash University. It has extensive experience in early-phase clinical trials in cutting-edge fields including cancer immunotherapy and cell therapy, and is renowned for its rigorous, internationally aligned ethics review process. This rapid approval represents further international recognition of the innovation and clinical safety of IDOV-Immune™.

As a strategic upgraded product derived from the IDOV™ platform—the world’s first oncolytic vaccinia virus platform engineered for systemic intravenous administration, co-owned by Longyao Bio and ViroMissile—IDOV-Immune™ expresses potent immune factors to systemically activate anti-tumor immunity, converting “cold tumors” into “hot tumors” and driving robust CD8+ T-cell infiltration. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that a single intravenous injection of IDOV-Immune™ achieves complete tumor clearance in immunocompetent mouse models, with efficacy significantly superior to the parental platform virus and other immune-activating approaches.

In China, Longyao Bio is steadily advancing clinical development of both IDOV-Safe™ and IDOV-Immune™. Core product IDOV-Safe™ has obtained ethics approvals from Peking University Cancer Hospital, Cancer Hospital Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center, and Beijing GoBroad Hospital, continuously expanding its nationwide multi-center clinical footprint and demonstrating breakthrough efficacy in indications including MSS colorectal cancer.

Initiation of this clinical trial in Australia represents an important step in the global clinical development strategy of Longyao Bio and ViroMissile. Leveraging The Alfred Hospital’s high-level clinical research platform, IDOV-Immune™ will accelerate the accumulation of international multi-center clinical data, laying a solid foundation for future regulatory submissions across major global markets.

Mr. Deng Xiang, Founder of Longyao Bio, stated: “Receiving ethics approval for IDOV-Immune™ in Australia is another landmark event in the company’s internationalization. We firmly believe that, with the revolutionary technological advantages of the IDOV™ platform and the outstanding execution of our global clinical teams, the joint R&D achievements of Longyao Bio and ViroMissile will benefit more patients with refractory solid tumors worldwide.”

Moving forward, Longyao Bio will continue to deepen its global collaboration with ViroMissile, accelerating clinical development of IDOV-Safe™ and IDOV-Immune™. Through this revolutionary technology platform, the company aims to transform more “incurable” cancers into treatable and manageable diseases, aspiring to become a foundational pioneer and leader in global solid tumor therapy.
